any one link and the other two stop meaning much.
Most buyers find this out during an audit rather than during procurement, which is the expensive
order to learn it in.
What a Batch Record Contains, and Why You Might Need It
The COA is the summary. The batch record is the underlying documentation the summary was drawn from. Buyers rarely receive the full record and generally do not need it, but you should
know it exists and that your supplier can reach it.
- Production date and location. When and where the run was made. This is the foundation of any country-of-origin question later.
- Quantity produced. Run size. Useful context for how widely a lot was distributed.
- Synthesis and purification record. The process detail behind the material. Usually proprietary, but its existence is what makes a purity figure reproducible rather than asserted.

- Relabeling in the middle of the chain. A distributor that repackages without carrying the original lot forward has broken traceability whether or not they intended to.
- One COA covering several lots. Common with suppliers who buy on the spot market. It is the clearest sign that lots are not being tracked as lots.

Quarterly is enough. The point is to find gaps while they are still fixable.
